A challenge, a win and an escape

I'd hoped to be sharing my 7th September page for Learn Something New but unfortunately I've used up the photo paper samples that came with my printer and the batch I ordered didn't arrive today after all! :-( I can't even make up the page and leave a gap for the photo, 'cos I want to make a border by overlapping stickers - that will become clearer when I've made it and you can see what I mean...

But all was not lost, because today a new challenge went up over at Peachy Keen Stamps. I don't actually own any of their stamps (yet!) but according to their rules that's OK - all I needed to do to join in was to make a card based on the sketch given. One of the things I learnt today was how to make a card based on a sketch! I knew _how_ to do it, obviously, but today was the first time I actually _did_ it!

I straight away decided that I wanted to use a little owl stamp that deserved its first outing, three buttons for the circular accents, and an orange and green colour scheme. (I don't know why, OK?! Sometimes the components of a card or LO just land in my head, sometimes I sweat over them for hours...) I toyed with flipping or rotating the sketch, but after cutting the panels and arranging them a few different ways I figured the original orientation worked best. Here's my card:
I stamped the owl onto my favourite white linen textured card and coloured with pencil crayons. The colours are brighter irl! I drew round a jar lid to 'frame' the owl and cut out the resulting circle. I punched three small circles from the same white card. The sentiment was stamped with Studio g alpha stamps (inside the card I stamped 'I dooo!') I knotted orange embroidery thread through the buttons (which are green, I promise, whatever they look like in that photo) and stuck the whole lot onto a white base card. Thanks Peachy Keen for giving me a craft project today, to distract me from my LSNED page and my inability to print the photo for it!

I had some good news this morning :-) I won some blog candy!! Many, many thanks to Rebecca and the rest of the 'Operation Nice' blog hop hosts for so generously offering up their projects and prizes :-)

And in other news, our hamster escaped last night... He managed to chew the plastic tabs away from the inside of his exercise ball so that the lid fell off! This was the crime scene:
Here's the evidence:
The hideout (behind the washing machine):
And the culprit (back behind bars, you'll be pleased to see!)
Can't wait to scrap this 'Jail Break' LO - when I can print those photos!!
